Heroes, Hayden Panettiere, Madeline Zima NBC

From Kristin : "Yep, Hayden Panettiere locks lips with a girl this coming Monday on Heroes. Claire Bennet and her roommate Gretchen (Californication's Madeline Zima) share a semiromantic first kiss, but what you don't know about their sapphic drama is that there's a third party involved. Read on to find out if college-girl Claire is getting kinky, or if there is something more significant going on...

Spoilers: Spoiler Alert! Sign (White Background)

Here's the deal: Gretchen loves Claire. Claire likes Gretchen, but doesn't like-like her. Such awkward scenarios have been worked out before, with a little honesty and upfront communication, but unfortunately that's not possible in this case.

See, Claire starts feeling a little threatened by Gretchen after a series of odd happenstances make it appear like Gretchen is stalking Claire. But is Gretchen really responsible? As it turns out, she might not be, because there's a third person in the mix who also has her eye on Claire, and that person's intentions are none-too-good. And maybe, just maybe, that third party is setting up Gretchen as the fall girl.

Who is this wicked woman? You'll probably be able to sniff out the suspect as soon as you see her, but just in case there's any doubt, here's a hint: You hated her guts on another series we love, and you rejoiced mightily when she was written off at the end of the season. Any guesses?"

So who was a bitch on a big show and was written off last season ? The first one that comes to mind is Eddie from Desperate Housewives but I don't see why or how she would be introduced to Heroes in the college storyline. Plus, we probably would have heard about it !! Chuck's ex girlfriend on Chuck ? She wasn't really hateable !! I can't think of anyone !!

From Ausiello :

"In a shameless bid to lure eyeballs to next Monday’s Heroes, NBC has just released a promo pic of Hayden Panettiere “experimenting” with co-star Madeline Zima. In an equally shameless bid to increase traffic to my blog, I’ve attaching said pic after the jump."

Heroes-Claire-Kiss_500[1]

I've already commented on this so I won't go far except saying again that it will be fun but it's still "déjà vu" and it's not gonna go anywhere storyline wise so there's no real point to the kiss except showing that Madeline Zima's character Gretchen is obsessed with Claire and obviously to draw in audiences !!

From Kristin : "Claire's new friend Gretchen is kinda creepy ! Madeline Zima is getting too close for comfort in next week's episode when the sorority girls come a-callin'. How single white female is Gretchen getting with new roomie, Claire (Hayden Panettiere) ? So far we've encountered clothes-stealing, Facebook-stalking, kissing - and attempting murder ? But Gretchen's not what she seems, and the evil greek system may in fact be evil."

I knew it !! She looked and acted too weird !! She sounded and acted too stalkerish !! I had heard of that girl on girl experimentation for Claire. It could be fun but Gretchen really look way too much like a weirdo !! But that storyline reminds me of Buffy and her evil roomate !! Stop copying guys !! This storyline sounds like déjà-vu !! Claire needs some fun and to have friends again !! Pleaaase !!

Heroesseason4_l From Ausiello : "Wanna know what Season 4 of Heroes is gonna be like?

Go back and watch Carnivàle.

Based on the casting breakdowns that are making the rounds in Hollywood, it seems safe to say that the creatively resurgent NBC drama's new volume, "Redemption," will bear more than a passing resemblance to the much-missed HBO show.

Besides a Knife Thrower and a sexy, twentysomething Tattoo Girl, Heroes is on the hunt for a middle-aged Eddie Izzard type to play the Carnival Barker, a smooth operator with a wicked wit. This character, I hear, will start small and grow. (Not grow as in grow-into-World's-Tallest-Man grow, but grow nonetheless.)

In addition, the series is searching for its own Ellen Page to play Claire's (Hayden Panettiere) quirky college roommate, and a stalwart -- think Andre Braugher -- for the role of Matt's (Greg Grunberg) partner... and mentor.

Sound good to you? Or at least better than this season of Heroes? Or does it just annoy you that somebody is doing Carnivàle other than, er, Carnivàle?"

From Ausiello :

Heroesfullcast_dl"The ink on NBC's unofficial renewal of Heroes is barely dry and already the show's producers are looking ahead to the fourth season. Truth be told, they've been looking ahead for some time now.

"We've spent a lot of time in the writers room talking about what season 4 is going to look like," consulting producer Bryan Fuller told me earlier this week. (At the time he was cautiously optimistic about the show's chances of returning.)

Fuller says the final moments of the season 3 finale will set the stage for what's to come in the fall. "Basically, the last act of episode 25, similar to what's been done in the past, opens up a new chapter of Heroes. It sets up arcs for a variety of characters."

That's particularly true in the case of Claire, Fuller says. "We set all the pieces up in terms of Claire's attitude and what her trajectory is going to be in season 4. You will have a very strong idea by the end of this season's final episode where Claire is going and what's going to be happening with the Petrellis."

Of course, the bigger question is whether anyone will care where they're going. Personally, based on what I'm hearing about this season's final batch of episodes, I actually do care."
I do too ! Apparently I'm the only one but I'm really enjoying season 3 and looking forward to season 4 !!

Hayden Panettiere, Robert Forster and Masi Oka

From tvguide : "Heroes will go back to its roots in its midseason return, trying to win new viewers and recapture those turned off by too many characters and plotlines.

"This volume starts us pretty much from scratch," creator Tim Kring said in a statement Thursday. "There is almost nothing that the audience needs to know from the previous volume in order to follow the storyline."

The reboot may be arriving just in time to save the show, which has faltered in ratings and irritated many fans since it's successful debut season.

Angela Bromstad, NBC's president of primetime entertainment, said Thursday that the show was "very secure" — but she didn't go so far as to announce its renewal, as she did for The Office, 30 Rock, and The Biggest Loser.

Bromstad said she's talked with Kring about whether the show has strayed too far from it's original focus: ordinary people dealing with extraordinary powers.

"They may have taken on too much in terms of characters and multiple storylines," she said.

The fourth volume of the show, airing Feb. 2 and entitled "Fugitives," features the heroes trying to lead normal livesuntil Claire (Hayden Panettiere) discovers a plot to hunt down and capture those with powers, orchestated by Nathan (Adrian Pasdar).

Damages actor Zeljko Ivanek will play a character called The Hunter.

Finally, in a long-awaited development, Sylar (Zachary Quinto) will begin the search for his real parents."

Cool ! I may have been one of the few who actually liked season 3 but it was still very confusing and having our characters trying to lead a normal life, as it was the case in the first season will be a lot more relaxing for my brain ! I hope it will go back to complex storylines slowly and with a bit more care so that we won't be totally lost !!

From Kristin : "Looks like T.R. Knight may be setting a trend.

Sources close to Heroes tell me that one of the show's stars has asked to leave the show at the end of the current season, in part because of a lack of screen time.

According to insiders, NBC has not yet decided whether this actor will be released from his or her contract; however, there is an apparent "death" planned for this season (somewhere in the last few episodes) that could wipe out this character for good.

Well, we can't reveal the actor's name (which is why this is a blind riddle—sorry!) but I can tell you:

  • It's a series regular who's been on since season one.
  • Some of you fans would freak if this actor were to leave.
  • This particular Hero-ic soul has more name recognition than others in the cast.
  • According to Peacock-net insiders, NBC is not likely to release this actor. (See number three.)
  • If this actor does return for season four, there's an easy way to bring him or her back from the planned "death.""
Well, let's see. How can come back from the dead ? Claire and Peter ! Hayden Panetiere has been given plenty of screen time recently, contrary to Milo Ventimiglia. So my guess is on Milo !!

Bryanfullerheroes_lFrom Ausiello : "Pushing Daisies fans will probably take a hit out on me for saying this, but something good has come out of the comedy's untimely death: It's freed up Bryan Fuller to rescue Heroes from the villain known as "What the Frak Have They Done to a Once-Great Show?!" In his first interview since rejoining the series as a consultant, the writer-producer-genius behind such acclaimed season 1 hours as "Company Man" reveals where it all went wrong, what it'll take to make it right, and who's gonna have to be sacrificed before that can happen.

AUSIELLO: Where did Heroes go wrong, in your opinion?
BRYAN FULLER:
It became too dense and fell into certain sci-fi trappings. For instance, in the “Villains” arc, when you talk about formulas and catalysts, it takes the face off the drama. And I think the goal for everybody is to put a face back on the drama. You have to save something with a face; otherwise you don’t understand what you’re caring about. I thought the "Villains" arc started out very interestingly, and then became sort of muddy and dense and I couldn't get my hooks into the characters to understand their motivations. I also started to feel confused about what people's abilities were. One of the great things about the first season is that the metaphor for their abilities was very clear. Those metaphors seem to have gotten complicated in the past two seasons. I share that concern with everybody on the writing staff. It's not like I'm coming in and saying, "This is what you need to do to fix it!" Everybody knows what needs to be fixed and everybody is sort of rowing in that direction.

Your work starts with episode 19, yes?
Yes. I'm fortunate to be coming into a very exciting story line. [Former co-exec producers] Jeph [Loeb] and Jesse [Alexander], before they left the show, set so many great events in motion with the "Fugitives" arc [kicking off Feb. 2]. It really is a fresh start. All of the characters are back in their real lives. You see Peter as a paramedic. Claire is looking for colleges. We get away from the world of formulas and quasi-magic.

Are the "Fugitives" episodes leading up to 19 solid?
Yes. Episodes 14, 15 and 16 are amazing. The whole "Fugitives" arc starts out very strongly, and then it gets a little dense in the middle in terms of the mythology. So I came in right at the point where everybody was realizing, "Oh, we're getting too dense here and we need to put faces on stories because there is no face to a formula; there is no face to saving the world." So it's turning this big ship back into a character stream, and everyone on the writing staff shares that desire. We need to get back into a character place, because that's where this story started: Very clean, superhero metaphors to everyday life. That's the path that we're taking. But it is a big ship so it's going to take a little while to turn it.

Any plans to trim the sprawling cast?
People will die. And some will return. Matt’s wife [Janice] comes back. We’ll find out what happens when you have a superbaby. We're also going to tell fewer stories per episode. We're going to limit it to three or four with one big one that you can wrap the stories around. We're altering the structure of the show so that there's a very clear A story that takes up a larger percentage of the show so that that story gets traction.

Are you looking at Season 4 as a complete reboot of the series?
It's not necessarily a reboot as much as it is going back to the basic spirit of the show and pulling people back in. I don't think the issues with the show have been about the serialization as much as about the density of the stories that have been serialized.

Will you be part of the show next season?
That's the idea.

Will the recent behind-the-scenes changes at NBC impact the show at all?
It's really hard to imagine Heroes without [Universal Media Studios president] Katherine Pope, because she has been such a proponent of the show. She was so instrumental in [setting] the tone and style of the show in the first season. She is as vital a piece as any of the players on the show at this moment. Her contribution can't be undervalued. It'll be very interesting to see how things shake out.

What's your working relationship with series creator Tim Kring been like since returning?
It's actually been very positive.

Who gets final say: you or Tim?
Tim. I’m a consultant. My job is to help facilitate the vision of the show, and the vision has been a little inconsistent. But “Fugitives” is such a great sea change. I think people who have been critical of Heroes will come back."

That is great news !!! I love season 3 personnally but I have to admit I'm getting a bit confused ! I didn't quite get what the catalyst was for exactly and I would love to see less storylines and more human drama ! We'll see what it ends up being !! But I'm loving it this season way more than the last !
