90210-willis-lowndes_l

From Ausiello : "Now that the initial shock and awe surrounding 90210’s upcoming lesbian love story has worn off (it has, right?), it’s time to get down to business — the business of interrogating showrunner Rebecca Sinclair about the origin of the Gia-Adrianna romance, how it’ll differ from the dozens of cliché-ridden Sapphic story arcs that preceded it on primetime, and which member of the show’s male population is most likely to follow Adrianna out of the closet.

Where did the idea for the Gia-Adrianna story come from?
REBECCA SINCLAIR:
There’s been a real void in the 90210 universe in terms of gay and bisexual characters, so it was always my intention to find the right way to tell a modern story about being a non-straight — or non-entirely straight — teenager. It’s crazy that we don’t have any stories about that.

Lesbian flings have become something of a cliché on primetime soaps. How will this one be different?
SINCLAIR:
This isn’t a fling. We’re coming at this [relationship] from a genuine place and not going, ‘Let’s do a titillating story that will grab some promotion.’ This is a real aspect of teenager life that’s interesting

Why Adrianna?
SINCLAIR:
Adrianna is, by nature, a dramatic person whose identity is not completely solid. She’s still very much in the process of figuring out show she is.

What role does her breakup with Navid play in her attraction to Gia?
SINCLAIR:
The breakup certainly shook her up and made her sort of more open to the possibilities of what will make her happy. But this isn’t a direct rebound like, “Oh, I’m going to go be with a girl now.”

How does the flirtation start?
SINCLAIR:
It starts from Gia’s side. She becomes Adrianna’s friend through AA. And then she develops a crush on her, and Adrianna is initially freaked out. But then she starts to question her own feelings.

How do her friends react?
SINCLAIR:
Naomi, predictably, has some outrageous opinions. She thinks the best thing about fooling around with another girl is how much guys would love it. And Silver, being more sophisticated, is like, “What’s the big deal? If you like somebody and you feel attracted to them, what is holding you back?” But once we get past the “gayness” of it all, it’s really just a story about two people connecting. I don’t think it all has to be about gender politics. Frankly, it’d be great if everyone on the show was bisexual. It would provide [lots] of interesting combinations.

After the Gia-Adrianna romance ends — assuming it will eventually end — will you continue to maintain a gay and lesbian presence on the show?
SINCLAIR:
I would love to. I would love to have a gay guy [on the show]. It’s a huge part of what high school is. I feel like the objective, aside from any political or social proselytizing, is to make as many interesting relationships as possible. I would very much like to have multiple gay relationships on the show.

Of the male characters you currently have on the show, who do you think is most likely to follow Adrianna’s lead?
SINCLAIR:
[Laughs] I don’t know if there’s anyone in particular. There has been some internal debate about this. I feel like as we dig into the show and hopefully make it more specific and unique and interesting, we would get into the real stuff that goes on from both the guys’ and girls’ perspective."

He was talking about it on twitter but didn't give any details.
It was unclear if he would be appearing as a new character, or as the character of Cliff Yeager, whom he portrayed in season seven of the original series (one of Donna's flings that year). Then Soap Opera Source confirmed that Vaughan will be playing a yet-to-be-named yoga instructor on an upcoming episode of 90210. "Vaughan’s character interacts with Debbie and Kelly" confirms a CW rep. The episode will air in January.
Poor Vaughan (ex Piper's boyfriend on Charmed) just got fired from General Hospital where he had been playing the part of Lucky Spencer (Luke and Laura's son, one of daytime most famous super couples) for years. He's been replaced instantly by Jonathan Jackson who had been the first one playing Lucky. I have no idea what went on behind the scenes there but not cool for Vaughan ! So I'm glad he's back, even if it's just for a little while !

90210, Jennie Garth as Kelly Taylor

From tvguide.com : "Jennie Garth will return to 90210 for its second season, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

Garth will re-reprise the role of West Bev guidance counselor Kelly Taylor beginning with Episode 3. Now you might be thinking: Duh, of course she's back. Why wouldn't she be? Well, I'm told that one of new showrunner Rebecca Rand Kirshner Sinclair's mandates from the network was to recalibrate the show away from the old (say, Tori Spelling guest spots) and toward the new.

But no matter. Garth is back and will appear in multiple Season 2 episodes, as it's rumored to be Kelly who first connects the dots vis-à-vis Annie's harrowing season-finale joyride."

As I've said before, I'm more into the "old" than the new so if no Brenda, no Donna, none of the boys, at least give me Kelly ! I can't believe we'll have to wait for episode 3 !!! I'll see if I keep watching if they get rid of the originals !!

At least there's the new Melrose !!!! CANNOT WAIT FOR THAT ONE !!!!!

The new season of the CW's 90210 premieres Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 8/7 CT.

Trevor-Donovan_l

From Ausiello : 'No disrespect to Dustin Milligan, but, um, er… Ethan who?

90210 has tapped Abercrombie & Fitch model-turned-soap star Trevor Donovan to fill the show’s "golden boy" vacancy, sources confirm to me exclusively.

The genetically blessed Donovan, who channeled Days of Our Lives bad boy Jeremy Horton for four months in 2007, will play Teddy, West Beverly’s own version of JFK Jr. Gorgeous, smart, athletic, charming, and naturally confident, Teddy has the unique ability to make any girl feel like she’s the most beautiful person in the room. And any guy like he’s a cross between Shrek and Jiminy Glick."

I remember him from Days ! Hot !!!

Donovan, whose 90210 gig is described as heavily recurring, will debut early on in the show's upcoming second season.

Okay, all you Armchair Casting Directors out there: Thumbs up? Thumbs down? Thumbs sideways? Comment away!

AnnaLynne McCord, Dustin Milligan, Shenae Grimes, Tristan Wilds, Jessica Stroup, Michael Steger

From Tvguide.com : "We were all sad to see the charming Dustin Milligan get the heave-ho from 90210 this spring, but fear not! TVGuide.com has learned exclusively that West Bev is getting a new shot of testosterone in the fall, courtesy a new recurring character.

Known as "Teddy" in the character breakdown, the new man in town is a tennis champ who is also the son of a famous movie star. He is described as "returning to West Beverly," which immediately made me think that he was the man behind the wheel of that bumper-stickered Mercedes that witnessed Annie hit... whatever it is that she hit on her season-finale joyride.

Teddy's charm is described as "Clooney-esque," which will surely send all the ladies' hearts a-flutter. That is, until it actually causes the inevitable rift/catfight among Silver, Annie and Naomi, thus teaching our young girls that when looking for a potential suitor, don't let anything get in your way, least of all your best friends. All other women are evil and should be considered competition."
I didn't like Ethan that much ! He wasn't that interesting ! Although him revealing his feelings to Silver was an interesting move and I'm pissed that it will just stop there like that ! But I like the "new" guy Liam so I bet I'll like "Teddy" ! I'm just afraid he's gonna be the kind to love himself too much ! We'll see.

90210, Shenae Grimes, Jessica Lowndes, Michael Steger, AnnaLynn McCord Michael Desmond/The CW

From kristin : "Sex, drugs, alcohol and murder. "Oddly enough all of those things [happen in the finale]," teased 90210 star Rob Estes at last night's Paley Festival event.

Wait, murder? " There may be a death at the very end of the season." That's right kids, someone in America's most famous zip code may be saying goodbye for good.

Also, not one, but two students are leaving West Beverly High, and we have the deets on a freak-out that will shock you, especially since it comes from someone other than resident bi-polar gal-pal Silver (Jessica Stroup).

Death Strikes 90210: Executive producer Rebecca Rand Kirshner Sinclair tells us, "There are some rash actions at the end of the season where one of the characters makes some decisions that may have very serious consequences, life and death consequences if you will." Though everyone assumes Ethan will bite the dust, since Dustin Milligan is leaving 90210 this season, Rebecca confirms that the cliffhanger death has nothing to do with Ethan. So where does the big death take place? "A lot of stuff happens during prom. There's love that's finally fulfilled and yet because of various circumstances, potentially destroyed forever. There's love, there's death, there's heartache, heartbreak," says Rebecca.

90210, Tristan Wilds, Jessica Stroup Michael Desmond/The CW

Leaving West Bev: Ethan's not the only one saying goodbye to the high school. Silver actually makes her exit in Tuesday night's episode as well. Because of her breakdown, little Silver can't show her face at school without being scrutinized, so she's heading off to an all girls Catholic school. Jessica teases, "As far as the recovery goes though, she's trying things out. When we come back, she's already on her medication. She's going through a routine instead of just being out with her friends and letting too much influence her, and let her emotions get to her too much and go into another episode. As far as the rest of the season, it's figuring out what works for her and getting back to Silver because she loses touch with that again."

Love Lost: With Ethan exiting, there's a flurry of questions as to why he's saying goodbye. As Rebecca teased above, there's a couple who finally find love, but ruin it forever. You'll be surprised as to who that couple actually is. Says Jessica, "Ethan's character has also gone through a lot, you're going to see in the next couple for him that he's exploring life and trying to get out of his little bubble of a world that he's been living in. In a lot of ways Silver and Ethan do have a lot in common and they've known each other for a long time. It's understandable they would have feelings for each other, so they possibly may try to do something." Does that mean Silver and Dixon are on the outs? "There's going to be a lot of problems up and down. They're working out whether or not it works for them anymore and if he's supportive enough. In the end do they stay together? You're going to have to see," adds Jessica.

Shenae Grimes, 90210 CW

Annie Flips Her Lid: Silver can't be the only one to hog the crazysauce spotlight. Rob spills, "In the final episode of the season, Annie (Shenae Grimes) blows her top. It's the cliffhanger from hell. It's a great surprise. Liam just keeps pressing her, saying ‘When are you going to lose it? You're not really as good as you pretend to be,' and she's not." Matt Lanter innocently says, "Liam is doing some teasing, but he teases everyone." Oh it's much more than that. Adds Ryan Eggold, "Annie definitely goes crazy. Not in the way Silver does, more like ‘What the heck am I doing in my life kind of thing.' She has a very interesting last moment in the finale." Could Annie be on a death-ward spiral? You'll have to tune in to the finale.

Donna Martin, Welcome Home: Donna Martin returning to 90210 is by far the best thing that could've happened. Putting Kelly (Jennie Garth) and Donna back together is comedic gold, especially when the pair accidentally end up in a gay bar. Tuesday's episode sets up for an extended Donna stay, but no hope in sight for David to swing by. For now, Donna settles with helping Kelly find her "six pack," which coincidentally turns out to be Ryan. Spoiler alert: Kelly and Ryan have the sexiest make-out sesh in Tuesday's episode, and it's so hot and heavy you may turn away from your TV. But don't expect happiness for the pair. Shannen Doherty will be back in the finale to stir the pot, along with introducing Naomi's sister, Jen Clark (Sara Foster), who's around Ryan's age and loves to start drama."

From Kristin :
Are any of the cast of 90210 heading for Melrose Place?
No one has been officially confirmed, but Rob Estes tells us, "My money's on Ryan, he'd be a perfect crossover." Who do you think should make the leap over to 90210's sister show?

What's the deal with Dixon's biomom coming on 90210?
Dixon's (Tristan Wilds) biological mom does come back in the picture, which causes quiet the emotional meltdown with the family. And though the promos tease a big reunion, don't expect it to be as special as they're selling. Rob Estes tells us, "We may see [Dixons mom], but do we meet her? She shows up and then disappears for a while. They actually go after her, they go looking for her."

AnnaLynne McCord, Matt Lanter, 90210 Jordin Althaus/The CW

I knew Dustin Milligan was leaving 90210, but now Silver? What's going on?
Silver is leaving West Bev High, but Jessica Stroup is not leaving the show. That is, if her character doesn't die in the season finale.

More Matt Lanter on 90210 please!
Liam's causing some drama and really turning into the Dylan McKay we've been waiting for. Matt Lanter says, "Liam takes out Ethan to a camping trip. Ethan's trying to find himself and Liam encourages that from people, trying to find what's deep inside. He gets Ethan into some trouble. Liam's presence is being felt in a pretty major way." That's not the only 90210er he's messing with. His new romance with Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) is headed for a rough patch. "By the end of the season, there's going to be some major drama with [Naomi] and her sister and possibly Annie. There's some problem with her sister. She comes in and she definitely makes things tough in 90210. People are definitely going to be angry and betrayed," adds Matt.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE having Donna back !!! She's still pretty ugly but it's so much fun having her and Kelly at the same time ! Who cares about Brenda ? We hadn't seen her since season 4 whereas Kelly and Donna have been there for 10 years !! And I still want to see the guys !! Can't david come say hi to his sisters ? And didn't his show got cancelled ? Which would mean he could be available for the end of the season or for next season !
I know the producers have said they wanted to focus more on the kids and less on the originals 'coz that's the audience they're going for, which I totally get but since I feel like I'm loosing brain cells every time I see or hear Annie or Naomie, I really hope we'll still get to see kelly, donna and the others !!!
As for last week, it was a very good episode and not only because I was so excited to have an episode with both Kelly and Donna (although it was a good part of it !) but also because I thouht Silver's storyline was very interesting, Naomie and Liam are hot (or at least Liam is hot !) and although I missed navid and adrianna, Dixon's story with his mother was great too !!

Dustinmilligan_lFrom Ausiello : "90210's new boss lady, Rebecca Rand Kirshner Sinclair, recently told me that the soap's second season would be "significantly" different than the first, and, man, she wasn't kidding.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Dustin Milligan, who plays affable jock (and one half of 90210's central super couple) Ethan, won't be returning to the show in the fall -- at least not full time.

Reps for The CW and producer Paramount declined comment, but a 90210 insider confirms that Milligan's contract option is not being picked up for next season. The source adds that the door is being left open for the actor to briefly appear in the fall to wrap up Ethan's story.

All indications are that Milligan's exit was strictly a creative decision. "Everyone loves Dustin," maintains the insider. "There was just a feeling that the character had run its course." (Curiously, the news comes just days after Milligan's newbie co-star, Matt Lanter -- a.k.a. bad boy Liam -- confirmed that he was being promoted to a series regular next season.)

The departure of one the show's most high profile leading men is the clearest indication yet that Sinclair's ongoing reboot of the reboot will be anything but minor. Viewers will get their first taste of the Gilmore Girl alum's new vision when 90210 returns from its winter hiatus this Tuesday with a hilariously campy outing that features the primetime soap trifecta: stalkers, street-racing, and scenery-chewing!

Looking ahead to season 2, Sinclair said last month that she wants to "reconceive things visually. There are opportunities to embrace California culture visually in terms of fashion and style; I want it to be more contemporary.

"If Gossip Girl is about youth in New York," she elaborated, "I want to [make 90210] about youth in L.A. and Beverly Hills."

The writer-producer also plans to rely less on 90210 vets such as Jennie Garth, Shannen Doherty, and Tori Spelling to boost ratings. "The show tried to be a lot of things to a lot of people in its first season," she conceded. "I think the center lies with the generation of kids that are in high school now. I'm not interested in casting people for stunt value."

Sinclair, who replaces original show-runners Jeff Judah and Gabe Sachs, said the show will benefit from having a singular vision. "The advantage of having one person -- me -- [in charge] is that scripts, what happens on the set, casting... it all speaks in one voice."

Thoughts on Sinclair's new 90210? Waiting to pass judgment until you see this season's remaining episodes? Is the loss of cute-but-boring Ethan a step in the right or wrong direction?"

I don't care about Ethan leaving but please keep my original castmembers or I'm out !!!! If they don't keep Kelly and Co. the show is just about teenagers in highschool with storylines we've seen a thousand times !!!

I really don't like Naomie (or Annalyne McCord for that matter !) but the new guy Liam (who's supposed to be the new Dylan) is so hot, I couldn't take my eyes off him !! I skipped all the parts with Annie and Ethan but the most interesting part was Silver's bipolar disorder storyline ! Can't wait for next week when they all figure out that something is seriously wrong with her : she's totally lost it !!
Here, watch the preview (plus Kelly's back !!!) :
